I would like to add a discussion topic, how do I do that?

To start your own discussion, simply go to The SGA Forum, click the "post new topic" button (top right) and enter your message! Please check over your message carefully before posting!

Forum Rules: Please keep posts clean and on-topic. Absolutely no marketing / spam. Posts or links to anything deemed inappropriate or offensive will lead to account deactivation.

I have a document or form which I think may be of interest. How do I make this available to colleagues around the County?

Please just drop us a note via the enquiry form and we will email you directly and make contact.

What’s in it for me?

Contributing to the discussions will help network your experiences and publicise your best practice with colleagues across the County. You will be able to interact, meet and network with like-minded colleagues working in the unpaid professional role of governors in education for Staffordshire.

Will it help with Ofsted inspections?

The aim of the forum is to create networking and sharing opportunities to assist you in improving governance in your school or academy to achieve the best outcomes for your young people. However, active participation with the forum can be an element of evidence you can discuss with your Ofsted inspector to demonstrate commitment to best practice around leadership and management, it’s not just about training courses.

How do I access the support I need to be an effective governor?

By placing questions and interacting with posts the principle is reciprocal self-help. However should there be wider issues you want to explore the signposting hub can direct you to the wide range of available resources and websites.

Is this just for Local Authority maintained schools?

No, this is for all education settings throughout Staffordshire. Whether you are a first school or Sixth Form College, a Faith School or Community Academy this is about working in a cohesive network in an increasingly fragmented education system.

My school is outside Staffordshire can I join?

Whilst the SGA Forum is free to access the resources and communities are built around and for Staffordshire education and we would encourage you to seek similar networks in your own locality.
